Description of task
Under the direct supervision of the Regional Adviser in Nutrition the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:
Support countries in introduction and adoption of the WHO nutrition guidelines and tools to address double burden of malnutrition; including diet-related risk factors, undernutrition and micronutrients deficiencies.
Support countries in implementing the activities related to the global strategy on infant and young child feeding with focus on breastfeeding;
Provide technical support to countries in dietary intake, nutrition assessments, and other related statistics and reporting;
Developing database, and monitoring the nutrition indicators in the Region, and facilitate the implementation of the reginal surveillance system;
Other duties assigned by the Regional Adviser
Qualifications/Requirements
Required degree level: Master degree or equivalent
Education - Additional Comments:
Degree in nutrition.
Required experience: 24 Months
Language skills:
English(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
Arabic(Optional), Level - Working Knowledge
Area of expertise: Food safety and nutrition
Area of expertise details:
Experitse in nutrition, NCD Diet related risk factors, food fortification and supplementation with micronutitients, specialized in growth monitoring and nutrition assessment, knowledge of dietary assessment.
Driving license: No

Selection process
Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. The selection will be done by the UN Host Entity at the level of the country of assignment. Interviews will be conducted by the UN Host Entity between 15 June and 10 July.
Pre-departure training in Finland
The selected candidate will be invited to attend a training on Finland’s development policy and cooperation prior to deployment. The training will take place in Helsinki from 2 to 4 September.
