Description of task
Under the direct supervision of
Education Specialist (Lead for Early Learning and School Readiness), the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:
- Support programme development and planning by contributing to the - preparation/ update of situation analysis of Early Childhood Education (ECE) sector, design and management of ECE related programmes /projects, research and report on development trends (social, economic, etc.) and data for use in programme development, management, monitoring, evaluation and delivery of results.
- Participate in monitoring and evaluation exercises, programme reviews and annual reviews with government and other counterparts to assess programmes/projects and to report in required action/interventions at the higher level of programme management.
- Work closely and collaboratively with Field Office education staff and other internal and external colleagues and government and CSO partners and provide technical and operational support to government and partners in implementation of ECE and ECD activities.

- Draft communication and information materials/package for Country Office programme advocacy to promote awareness, establish partnership/alliances and support fund raising for ECE and ECD programmes.
- Draft donor proposals and regular programme and project reports for management, donors and partners.
- Research and report on best and cutting-edge practices for knowledge development and capacity development of stakeholders.
- Support management of ECE and ECD related knowledge sharing and organizing ECE/ECD events. Keep records of reports and assessments (and evaluations) for easy reference and/or to capture and institutionalize lessons learned.
- Build and sustain effective close working partnerships with government counterparts and national and provincial stakeholders through active sharing of information and knowledge to facilitate program implementation and build capacity of stakeholders.
Qualifications/Requirements
Required degree level: Master degree or equivalent
Education - Additional Comments:
Social science and preferably in Early Childhood Education. Experience in programme development/management, report writing, and communication/information will be an added value.
Required experience: 24 Months
Experience remark:
2-3 years of experience in Early Childhood Education.
Language skills:
- English(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
- Portuguese(Optional), Level - Working Knowledge

Selection process
Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. The selection will be done by the UN Host Entity at the level of the country of assignment. Interviews will be conducted by the UN Host Entity between 15 June and 10 July.
Pre-departure training in Finland
The selected candidate will be invited to attend a training on Finland’s development policy and cooperation prior to deployment. The training will take place in Helsinki from 2 to 4 September.
