Duty Station Mariupol (UKR)
Start Date 01 June 2020
Duration 12 months with possibility of extension

Eligibility criteria
Minimum age: 22 years old. Applicants must be nationals of or legal residents in the country of assignment.

Description of task
Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Assistant Representative or his designated mandated representative(s), the National UN Volunteer will:
  • Support the UNFPA CO in UNFPA project component implementation, all envisioned events and activities in the south of Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia regions of Eastern Ukraine ensuring delivery of all planned results in line with approved work plans and results framework;
  • Serve as a focal point for the Component 2 of UN Joint Programme of UNDP, UNFPA, UN Women and FAO on “EU Support to the East of Ukraine – Recovery, Peacebuilding and Governance”, ensuring proper coordination and reporting (including events and mass media analysis, etc.);
  • Advocate UNFPA projects and initiatives at national and subnational level, strengthening partnerships with respective local government authorities, non-government actors, UN agencies to ensure effective coordination and cooperation;
  • Contribute to visibility of the programme implementation through public relations, advocacy, working with the mass media and other communications activities;
  • Assist in drafting of progress reports required by donors and UNFPA, provide regular updates/briefs as required by UNFPA;;
  • Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications/Requirements
Required degree level: Bachelor degree or equivalent
Education - Additional Comments:
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in public administration, communication, sociology, political and social sciences or related fields;
Required experience: 24 Months

Experience remark:
  • Good research and analytical skills, and ability to multi-task and prioritize workload;
  • Demonstrated interest in and/or experience in the areas of UNFPA mandate;
  • Good interpersonal, networking, public speaking, presentation and communication skills;
  • Confidents to speak with the stakeholders of different levels;
  • Willingness to contribute and work as part of a team;
  • Flexible and open to learning and new experiences;
  • Respect for diversity and adaptability to other cultures, environments and living conditions;
  • Advanced social media user;
  • Experience in using modern communication tools, apps, editing photo and video materials will be a strong asset;
  • Advanced computer skills (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, social media).

Language skills:
  • Ukrainian(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
  • English(Optional), Level - Working Knowledge
