RI is looking to for an experienced Psychologist (GBV) to support the implementation of GBV activities including psychosocial support to GBV Survivors for a new USAID/OFDA funded integrated WASH, Health, Nutrition and Protection project across four counties in Upper Nile, South Sudan. The Psychologist (GBV) will assist PSS Officers and GBV Case Managers to provide psychological support to most critical identified cases (by GBV Case Managers and GBV Officers), promoting an integrative and holistic survivor centered approach. The Psychologist will ensure quality case management by providing individual and group counseling, informing the survivors about all available services, drafting an action plan and, after seeking consent of survivors, referring to adequate services. The Psychologist (GBV), and will also ensure continuous guidance to GBV and PSS case workers and officers, including providing training and ongoing coaching and mentoring to ensure that appropriate psychosocial support is given to GBV survivors.

Specific duties and responsibilities:
Under the direct responsibility of the GBV Coordinator, and in close collaboration of the county-level GBV Coordinators, GBV Officers and PSS Officers, the Roving Psychologist (GBV) will:
- Ensure that identified GBV cases are provided with direct psychosocial support and internal and external referral as needed, accordingly to a beneficiary/survivor centered approach and based on guiding principles.
- Assist the GBV and PSS case workers and officers in the detection of most vulnerable cases.
- Provide a clinical assessment on identified cases of persons at risk and survivors of GBV.
- Open individual files for survivors, monitor the service provision and ensure that cases under assistance receive all the care and support needed.
- Provide identified children and adolescents at risk, women and girls, men and boys, both IDP and host community survivors or at risk of GBV, with emotional support, ad hoc immediate assistance.
- Provide beneficiary/survivor access to immediate, safe and multi-sectoral services through referral, psychosocial support and quality case management for identified cases of GBV. the Psychologist ensures a timely referral to most appropriate services available (medical care, mental health and psychosocial support, legal counselling and assistance, safe shelter, education and livelihood opportunities) according to the needs and established SOPs.
- Support the development and establishment of internal and external referral and coordination mechanisms for assistance to those at risk or survivors of GBV in close cooperation with other relevant actors in each location.
- Organise and facilitate regular peer-led Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) and specific psycho-social group activities.
- Work with community leaders and local organisations to organize and support community-based psycho-social activities in identified premises.
- Carry out briefings on Child and Adult Psychology and protection related issues and develop and roll out training to staff on quality case management and protection mainstreaming in field interventions.
- Support the GBV and PSS case workers to provide quality case management and general staff (of all projects) by offering trainings to ensure that protection issues are mainstreamed in field interventions and detection of cases can be efficiently referred in timely manner.
- Produce and maintain accurate records and follow up action plans of the beneficiaries: cases files and technical reports must be archived in locked and secure location, access to them should be restricted only to relevant, authorized GBV project staff.
- Set up a monitoring system to evaluate the effectiveness and the impact of the individual counseling and psychological support intervention.
- Integrate, along with the Protection Information Management Assistant inter-agency efforts aiming to ensure safe and ethical collection, storage, analysis and sharing of reported GBV incident data, using the GBV information Management System (GBVIMS).
- Ensure a daily quantitative and qualitative reporting through specific reporting tools (Assessment Form, Psychological follow up form, Intake Form, etc).
- Identify specific needs on psychosocial and psychological issues of the project beneficiaries, as well as to contribute to the assessment of these needs
- Participate to formal and informal meetings with the team, and contribute to a qualitative analysis of the different kinds of issues, at individual, familial and community level
Participate to the reporting of activities and evolution of the beneficiaries’ psychosocial situation.
- Master's degree in psychology (clinical psychology, counseling psychology preferable).
- At least 3 years work experience in the same domain (GBV programming, counseling/provision of psychosocial support) in an INGO or UN agency;
- Knowledgeable in and previous experience of implementing the IASC MHPSS guidelines and best practices
- Previous experience of implementing individual and community-based counselling/ psychosocial support
- Previous experience of working in conflict and fragile settings
- Training experience required in capacity building and proven track record of training national and partner staff
- Strong organizational and supervisory skills
- Proficient in use of Microsoft Office Packages including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Experience of working within the GBVIMS system
- Fluency in English; Arabic and Nuer desirable
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills
- Previous experience of working in South Sudan desirable
- Excellent time management skills, resourcefulness, with strong attention to detail
- A sense of humor and adaptable approach to working style and working in a team.
The ideal candidate will be passionate, enthusiastic and self-driven. A demonstrable commitment to national capacity strengthening is mandatory. Additionally, S/he will have excellent written and verbal communications skills, and will be fluent in English
. Experience working in project management within an INGO in conflict-induced fragile settings is mandatory, with previous experience in South Sudan desirable.
