Summary of position:
Under the general supervision of the Senior Consular Officer, the Passport Examiner and Consular Assistant processes passports applications and citizenship documents for Canadian citizens abroad; provides consular support services to Canadians; and financial and accounting services in support of consular, passport and citizenship services provided at the mission; and performs other duties.
Essential qualifications:
Candidates will initially be screened based on the essential qualifications in relation to education, experience and languages. They must demonstrate clearly in their cover letter and CV how they meet each of these essential qualifications. Only those candidates who meet all the Essential Requirements will proceed to the next stage of the process.
Education:
• A degree or diploma from a recognized university with a specialization in social sciences, administration, international relations or law; OR other specialization relevant to the position
Language:
• Fluency in
English (both written and oral)
• Fluency in Turkish (both written and oral)
Experience:
• 2 years of recent* experience working with the public in a client service environment or an office environment, in an administrative support or program assistant capacity (excludes volunteer and internship work)
• 1 year of recent* experience working with clients (internal and external)
*Recent experience is defined as within the last 7 years

Candidates must also meet the Rated Requirements shown below, which will be assessed through any of the following: written examination, an oral interview, role-play, practical tests, presentations and/or psychometric assessment. Unless indicated, rated requirements apply to all positions.

Language:
• Intermediate knowledge of French (both written and oral)
Experience:
• 6-months of recent* experience working in an Embassy, Consulate or an International Organization.
*Recent experience is defined as within the last 5 years
Organizational Needs:
Operational Requirements:
• Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week, 5 days a week
• Ability to successfully complete the Passport training within 3 months
• Ability to work overtime (compensated)
• Willingness and ability to occasionally travel within Turkey and abroad

Condition(s) of Employment:
• Candidates must have a valid work authorization covering the entire employment period. If the employment is indeterminate, the work authorization should be permanent or itself lead to a permanent work authorization.
