BACKGROUND

The NAEW&C Force is a unique organization operating as a multi-national fully integrated Air Force. The Logistics Wing (LW) is responsible for maintaining readiness in support of missions, generating mission capable aircraft and producing flying hours by conducting scheduled and unscheduled maintenance. The Maintenance Production Squadron is responsible for the management of all short term maintenance activities and executes all scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance. The General Aircraft Maintenance Branch performs periodic phase/isochronal inspections, including all related functional checks of aircraft systems and aircraft structures. The Aircraft Inspection Section performs periodic/isochronal inspections, repairs and performs Organizational Maintenance on E-3A aircraft and on E-3A aircraft wheels and tyres; performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on aircraft and AGE by Non-Destructive Inspections (NDI) including participation in Joint Oil Analysis Programs; performs both corrosion control prevention measures on aircraft and aircraft components and secondary refurbishment of aircraft components. The Senior Technician in the Aircraft Inspection Section is responsible for conducting scheduled maintenance inspections/functional checks on the aircraft and related equipment/parts including corrosion treatment and prevention for all maintenance production concerning scheduled aircraft maintenance during phase inspections. The incumbent contributes to the Logistics Wing (LW) training programme.


THE ROLE

The incumbent's duties are:
  • Performing Phase inspections, functional checks and corrosion control inspection on E-3A;
  • Performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, troubleshooting, servicing, inspection, testing, modification, evaluation, repair, replacement and adjustment of aircraft components and related support equipment to include AGE basic servicing;
  • Detecting, identifying, removing and (by chemical or mechanical treatment of corrosion) refurbishing surfaces whilst observing the full range of corrosion preventive techniques and applying corrosion preventive compounds/paints on both, the aircraft (including aircraft integral tank) and aircraft components;
  • Supporting other specialists in their phase work as required;
  • Performing of acceptance and transfer inspections under guidance of Quality Control;
  • Functioning as technical publications monitor;
  • Assisting in checking quality of inspection and corrosion work within the Section;
  • Ensuring compliance with all applicable directives and technical documentation concerning work safety, safe aircraft maintenance operations and vehicle usage;
  • Providing technical information on assigned equipment and recommending methods to improve equipment performance and maintenance procedures, AFTO 22 and suggestion programmes;
  • Advising and assisting supervisors on difficult technical matters;
  • Assisting in managing corrosion control facilities at the Main Operating Base (MOB);
  • As functional area subject matter expert (SME), providing the Logistics Wing Training Section inputs on training analysis, required level of learning and method of delivery related aspect;
  • As SME, supporting other Logistics Wing training courses as directed;
  • Conducting on-the-job training (OJT) and advising newly assigned personnel;
  • Performing Disabled Aircraft Recovery (DAR) duties;
  • Shift work maybe required;
  • Operating computer terminals;
  • Operating motor vehicles, support and test equipment;
  • Performing general housekeeping duties, including ground snow/ice removal.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Completion of a basic Aircraft Maintenance Course;
  • A thorough working knowledge of aircraft maintenance to include a thorough working knowledge of interpreting technical publications and professional experience of independently analyzing and rectifying aircraft maintenance related technical problems;
  • A higher secondary education and completed intermediate vocational training in wide-body aircraft maintenance preferably including aircraft corrosion treatment, acquired through at least 2 years function related, current professional experience, or a secondary education and completed advanced vocational training in that discipline leading to a professional qualification or professional accreditation with 4 years post related experience? ;
  • Good knowledge of aircraft maintenance management systems;
  • Driving license equivalent to European Class B.;
  • Adequate standard Automatic Data Processing (ADP) knowledge is essential;
  • The work, both oral and written, in this post and in this Headquarters as a whole is conducted mainly in English, therefore adequate knowledge of English language is essential.
THE FOLLOWING WOULD BE CONSIDERED AS ADVANTAGE
  • Previous experience working in an international military environment;
  • Previous experience working in the fields of aircraft maintenance including training and aircraft logistics support.
CONTRACT  

Serving civilian members of NATO will be offered a contract in accordance with the NATO Civilian Personnel Regulations. Newly recruited staff will be initially offered a definite duration contract of two years. The definite duration contract may be extended for up to one year. Thereafter, an indefinite duration contract may be offered.
