Position Description
AMIDEAST, a U.S. non-profit organization that works to strengthen mutual understanding and cooperation between Americans and the peoples of the Middle East and North Africa, is seeking qualified American teachers to teach
English as a Second Language to adult students from across Egypt. The teacher will be responsible for delivering speaking and/or conversation courses online using AMIDEAST’s curriculum.
The teacher will be required to plan, organize and implement an engaging and interactive online instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop their
English language skills. The ideal teacher will be able to demonstrate cross-cultural sensitivity and awareness and possess excellent
English language teaching skills.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare and deliver instructional online activities that facilitate active learning experiences
- Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities
- Identify and select different instructional electronic resources and methods to meet students' varying needs
- Observe and evaluate student's performance and development
- Assign and grade classwork, homework, tests and assignments
- Provide appropriate feedback on students’ progress
- Manage online classes in a way that engages all learners and achieves maximum interaction
- Keep updated with developments in subject area, teaching resources and methods, and make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities
- Attend and contribute to teacher development training sessions as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
- Minimum of 1-2 years ESL or EFL teaching experience
- Minimum of 6 months experience teaching English online
- Familiarity with online teaching platforms
- English as a Second or Foreign Language teaching certification
- U.S. Citizen
Tech Requirements
- Access to a working computer with speakers and camera
- Professional remote working space
- High-speed internet connection
- Familiarity with Zoom, Google Classroom and other online platforms
